If only music could be the downfall of our society. Pop music, which you apparently deem as potent enough to bring this about, certainly shouldn't be blamed. So much of it, whether it be rock or hip hop, is reflective of the culture of its origins, not the other way around.

That said, there is much merit to be found in pop music of all sorts, including the favorite target of this and many other forums, hip hop. Although many seem to find this recorded art form offensive, it is merely the folk music of our age. Much of the socially progressive rantings of the typical folk artists of the past are being recreated, with urban and contemporary influences, through some of today's hip hop artists.

MTV is certainly an extremely low form of entertainment at its best (Jackass excluded,) but if one would take the time and effort to explore and listen to many of the artists portrayed in an often superhuman image on the station, they might just realize that there is a good deal of legitimacy to their efforts.
