Welcome to the club. There are several tubists working in the New Haven area. (I am one.) I don't think any of us get enough performance gigs to make a living at it without some other kind of work such as teaching. One fine tubist with a day job doubles on string bass & occasionally gets work at the Shubert Theater. Another has had the New Haven Symphony gig for many years and teaches tuba. I occasionally get brass quintet gigs and I do a lot of dixieland work. Perhaps you'd like to sit in some time. I look forward to meeting you.
