Most don't realize this, but the Bach 36 bell section (except for about 1/4" less bell flare) is identical to the Bach 42 bell section. The main difference is the front-end resistance (playing slide bore and venturi).

You can just about use ANY mouthpiece you wish - for whatever result you wish to achieve - all the way (assuming "standard shank") from a 12C ("lead" in a jazz band) up to a Schilke 51 or Bach 5G.

I really don't like the idea of using a 51D ( super deep cup euphonium) mouthpiece with a .525" bore trombone, unless someone is going to try to temporarily use the instrument as a "get by" bass trombone.
