Count me in with the "went to Interlochen" crowd, too. I spent two years at the Academy and I've had the chance to go back and work with some of the kids and Tom as well. I haven't spent tons of time with Tom, but I can say that the time I have spent was great. He's a great guy with plenty of good ideas and ways to get them across.

Academy life is different. You start to lose track of what day it is. (You go to school Tue - Sat and Thursdays are "flexible".) If you can stay "clean", and keep your mind on what you are there to do, Interlochen is great. There is no better experience. If you want to go there to "get some freedom from home", then you'll hate it!

I would also agree that when you've been through Interlochen, college can be a real let down. I haven't played with a college group that was able to do what Interlochen's ensembles could (I know there are some out there, I just haven't played with one!)

Feel free to e-mail if you'd like more info!

Take care!
