I am barely 5'7" and I do not have a problem at all with my hands fitting the large piston 2145. The bore is the same between the "small piston" and the "large piston" 2145, but the main difference is that the larger piston diameter enables the ports to be spread a little further, thus reducing the overlap or "dimple" you will see when looking through the ports. This reduces disruptions to the airflow. My own LP 2145 is free blowing and has a very open low register for a smallish CC, so I have no complaints about the valves. I only wish the bell was 1/2"-1" larger and the metal overall a little thinner, though.
