I read all the other posts before writing this.

I have two of the Meinl Weston horns with the so-called large valve sets. I have a small hand and find it no problem to use the valves. My biggest problem was in having to learn how to use piston valves after 35 years of rotaries.

There is one thing I have discovered in all the years of playing and repairing instruments. If a person "wants" to like an instrument, he/she will put up with just about anything. If, on the other hand, the same person wants to find something wrong with the instrument, any excuse will do. Examples seen on this BBS: the valves are too big, the valves are too small, the bell isn't big enough, the bore is too big, the bore is too small, it's silver plated, it's not silver plated, the list goes on and on.

When each of us finds the instrument(s) that really make us shine, or that we really like, then we stop complaining and simply find joy in the playing of the instrument.

Just my opinion.
