Your list is excellent. However, a second qualification was that the tubas were to be used in high school. This means that the tuba must be able to stand up to hard use. The tubas will be played by young people that have no intent to go to music school; thus, ease of play is a major issue. Furthermore, as high school tubas, I assume that they will be used as general purpose instruments for everything from concert band to solo festival. I feel that the Meinl Weston 25 and Mirafone 186 are proper choices under these conditions (and beyond these conditions). As to quality of instruments, Meinl Weston and Mirifone are, in my opinion, top quality. I have experience with these two tubas, so I feel qualified to comment on them. I am a longtime fan of the Meinl Weston and Mirifone tubas in general. I do not know much about the new Kings, so I will not comment, the old ones were excellent.
