The "stock" Stradivarius trumpet bell taper of old (NY days) was the #25. Today, the "stock" Strad. trumpet bell taper is the #37 (considerably larger than the #25)...and many of the NY Bach trumpets had #8, #9, #11 mouthpipes whereas today the "stock" mouthpipe is a #25 (much larger) and many order the #43.
Everything today on wind instruments is bigger (out of proportion)...and at what costs?
