I use vibrato (somewehat sparingly) when playing solos or etudes (after I have mastered them in tune) and I use a jaw vibrato. A few things to note about vibrato: 1) some use it to hide that fact that the have difficulty playing in tune; 2)vibrato is- the note and below the note -- not, the note and all around the note; 3) like an actor on the stage it should be a grand gesture so that everyone knows it is vibrato and not the result of nerves and the audience should be able to recognize this; 4) like zipping your pants in public, it should be used discreetly.
