I think that a lot of it comes from the "HB" sound, I think it is ghreat in an orchestral setting but lacks in a solo or quintet..it is not an all around horn. Also there have been lots of advancements in other brands...the PT line, the Meihl Westons, etc...so thats my guess for what its worth.
