What grade are you in?
How good is the tuba you're using?

Beyond that, a used Mir. 4 valve BBb (i.e. the 186) can run anywhere from $1000 to $3000 depending on the seller, condition of the horn, and how desperate you are.

If you're not yet a junior, unless the school-owned horn is really bad, you've got plenty of time to be patient, find a teacher in your area, research, call the Brasswind, Baltimore Brass, Dillon Music, and Low Brass Werks, and really get to know what you want, need, and are willing to pay for.

It's a big investment, take it seriously, and be patient.
