Mirafone now uses metal linkages. Contact the place where the instruments were bought and see about having them switched to metal. Some dealers will do it cheaply for instruments bought from them.
My CC 186 came with black plastic ends that all cracked at the threaded end. The dealer sent me new metal minibals. No modifications had to be made.
Switching to "Dubro" linkages is not for those who already have minibal type linkages. It is for switching from the old S shaped linkages. Even then, I think it is a bad idea for a parent to make a modification to a school horn.
