We did two things first to determine what we could program that our audience would consider a good choice. We checked past concert ticket sales and we listened to what audience members requested we play. Obviously these two things weren't directly reflected in the final programming because lots of factors go into why a concert sells or doesn't. Also, we have to take into account what the audience hasn't heard in many years (because we've never programmed it before) or ever and balance that into what they actually requested. Lastly, we looked at the resultant list and made sure that all the final selections were fiscally responsible.

I'm sure those of you who study this list will wonder how some of this music could be considered in any way "new". Without going all the way down the list, I can tell you there are some works on this list that have never been performed by the FPO in the 17 years I've been here. One such example is Brahms 4th Symphony. Please take into account that some pieces that you'll view as warhorses will not fit that category here. They will be fresh "new" pieces that our audiences have never heard us play. You'll also see a lot of Mozart. This is another composer whose works are rarely, if ever, performed by the FPO. This is another of the changes we made.

The list is quite long and I'm sorry for that. I wanted to be as complete as possible. Here is an overview of our season:
