Get yourself involved with something that keeps you playing. Wether it be a commmunity band, a dixie trio, a brass quintet, etc., you need to have an outlet for your diligence, i.e. practice. Keeping goals in mind is what keeps us motivated. You may also want to occasionally schedule a recital for yourself at a local school or church to keep motivated. You don't have to do hard material, just good music. Don't be afraid to take free gigs as they can sometimes lead to paying ones, and don't think you have to get payed to play. I am willing to bet that 60-70% of the band and orchestra music being played in America is being done on a volunteer basis.

Good Luck,

Matt G
