There are also sets of Solo books for Tuba by the Canadian Brass which come with a play along CD. There are four books and cost about $16 each. (Beginning Solos for Tuba, Easy Solos for Tuba, IntermediateSolos etc. and Advanced) Once he gets through afew lessons in the lesson book he could play through some of the songs in the Beginning book.
