I just acquired a fairly old (maybe 60 years) European-made euphonium, oval shape with 3 clockspring rotary valves. It has a bunch of minor dings, and it was unbelievably filthy and corroded, but it plays pretty well considering. It is of course, raw brass. I've got the thing pretty well cleaned up with SOS, Scotch bright, an automotive cleaner-polish, and lots of elbow grease, but I'm wondering what else I can/should do to keep it looking decent. Never had a raw brass horn, always either lacquer or nickle plated, so I'm in need of basic help.
