This is a repertoire worth learning. It may take a long time, but by the time you finish you'll have technic to burn and play very musically to boot.

Bach – Cello Suites (various ones)
Frackenpohl – Sonata
Grant – Stuff
Hartley – Suite for Tuba
Kraft – Encounters II
Penderecki – Capriccio
Persichetti – Serenade No. 12
solo with piano
Bach/Wilson – Concerto No. 1
Bach/Bell – Air and Bourree
Barat – Introduction and Dance (easier on F)
Bozza – Concertino
Beach – Mary’s Idea
Beversdorf – Sonata
Bottje – Prelude and Fugue
Brandon - Sonata
Broughton - Concerto (Sonata?)
Capuzzi/Wilson – Concerto for Double Bass
Cummings - Suite No. 1 for Tuba
Cummings - Concerto
Cummings - Remembrance
Debussy – Le Petit Negre
Frackenpohl - Concertino
Frackenpohl – Tubarag
Galliard – Sonatas for bassoon (F?)
Grant - Just a Thought
Grant - High Autumn
Grant - Endorphins
Haddad – Suite for Tuba
Hartley – Sonata
Heiden – Concerto
Hindemith – Sonate
Ionel – Rumanian Dances No. 2, 3, 4, 5 (easier on F)
Jacob – Tuba Suite
Lebedev – Concert Allegro
Lebedev – Concerto in One Movement
Marcello – Sonatas
Monti/Hilgers - Czardas
Mozart – Horn Concerti(easier on F)
Uber - Deep River
Uber – Legend of the Purple Hills
Uber - Pink Panther
Ritter George – Concertino
Semler/Collery – Barcarolle et Chanson Bachique
Senaille/Catelinet – Introduction and Allegro Spiritoso
Shelley - Freedom
Sibbing – Sonata
Spillman – Two Songs
Swann – Two Moods
Stevens – Sonatina
Vaughan Williams – Concerto for Bass Tuba (easier on F)
Vaughan Williams/Wagner - Six Studies in English Folk Song
Vivaldi – Sonata No. 5(easier on F)
Wilder – Effie Suite
Wilder - Suite for Horn, Tuba and Piano

This is just a sampling of the material I have played over the years. Some of the material is very good, my opinion only, and some of it not very good. I have concentrated in recent years on playing music that is tonal, has melodic content, and is playable by the majority of tuba players as well as the accompanist.

Hope this helps in your quest to get a list of literature.

P.S. - Any of you knowing of performance venues for an aspiring soloist (me) let me know. I hope to be performing on a couple of the ITEA regional conventions this next year and would like to do the same in your area or school.
