Must not always be?, cause mine does not, don't know about any others. There is supposed to be a designation on the lead pipe, but mine doesn't have it either. Of course, the lead pipe could have been replaced. Don't forget that substitution of a bell up for a bell front changes the model #, and the bells are interchangable.
