Read slowly so you understand. Bobo plays a Yamaha 621F with a .689 bore, damn near a euphonium bore! His sound is bright and the tuba sounds like it is going to explode. Same sound he had on his Miraphones. While most will find this exciting, others will consider it an old concept of sound. Therefore, a pea-shooter sound. Forced blow through a small tube, get it? This does not take away from his abilities as a performer. Perantoni may miss notes; however, who would deny his sound? You said you wanted to know what he sounds like so you wouldn't have to buy any recordings, therefore, not becoming informed yourself. Everyone here has their opinion, and they will not always be the same opinion you share. So, buy the damn recordings yourself and make your own judgements. Better yet, see these guys in person. Hell, don't they have other tuba players at CIM you can annoy with these questions?
