For those of you who cherish the CSO/Reiner recordings, one company understands their value. JVC has a relatively new line of XRCD's that includes a large portion of Reiner/CSO catalogue among other great classical and jazz recordings. These are "regular" CD's, not HDCD or SACD. They will play in any standard CD player, yet you won't believe the sound. These are THE BEST cd's ever made, and once you listen something like the CSO Pines/Fountains on XRCD, you just won't want to go back to regular CD's. One reviewer in the recent issue of the audio magazine, "The Absolute Sound" feels that the XRCD's sound better in many ways than the Shaded Dog LPs. If you have the opportunity to listen to these amazing releases, you will fall in love with the CSO/Reiner output all over again, but especially Arnold Jacobs' playing, now brought to the listener with greater fidelity than even the best LP pressings.
Save your pennies for these XRCD releases- they sell for $25 to $30 each, but are well worth the expense.

You can't find XRCD's at Tower or Amazon, but you can get them through JVC or any high-end audio retailer. They are also available online through Acoustic Sounds Inc., a great source for high-end recordings: http://store.acousticsounds.com/

JVC adds a couple Reiner/CSO recordings to the XRCD catalogue every year, so if it's not out yet, just wait. As for the Reiner/Wagner disc, try the used area of the Amazon site.
