The better question is:

Can you expect to turn a mediocre Eb into a good CC and is it worth it? Perhaps the only really usable parts are the bell and bottom bow. I've seen some pretty interesting "cuts" by a famous horn cutter where none of the bows match up at the ferrules and the huge gaps were filled in with lead.

The person to ask is Matt Walters at Dillon who seems to be one of the few tuba re-craftsman that actually does it the correct way.

Of course, you've only invested a $100, it wouldn't hurt to chop it I guess. DLH
