It was probably my last post, following a reference to the (in)famous 20J Marching Band, that pushed you over the edge. I never liked the crazy out of tune stuff going on, but in my high school band, having an out of tune horn was probably my best chance for staying in tune with everyone else. By chance, was the Conn you used bigger than you when you were in high school? I know a few people who were pretty intimidated by its size, not so much that it's big and scary or anything, but that they had a hard time getting enough air to get the sound they were looking for. I played Air and Bouree on it this last year for contest, it probably the worst tuba I could have possibly used, I didn't have the air to do the song real justice. I still love the massive sound, though, and I couldn't resist a chance to post about it again.
