Really, it's not an issue of if you play CC or Bb. Most teachers accept both and any teacher that forces one or the other is partially wrong in doing so. Any player can play well on any instrument. However, CC is widely accepted in orchestras. The tide seems to be turning a bit, however. A good horn right now for Bb in your range may be the VMI 3301. (stay away from the 3302). Really, I think Mr. Denney put it best: The difference is 2 feet of tubing.
