In high school, I studied privately with (now) Dr. Mordue while he was with the old OKC Symphony. It was through him that I was first exposed to the world of orch rep. Under his guidance, I was able to join the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and spend two weeks of two consecutive summers at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. A really great player, teacher and all-around good guy.

Yes, he played the same 186 from the time he was at Eastman up until last summer. That includes at several professional gigs, numerous auditions, a master's with Tucker Jolly, and a DMA with Fritz Kaenzig. As far as I know, he never needed anything bigger; he could produce a tremendous amount of quality sound with his Miraphone.

If you do own that horn, you're a lucky guy.

Steve
