if you're talking about going from pedal Bb and lower, then perhaps what you might want to do is use a slightly smaller m.p. (say, Wick 2) and do an embouchure switch. In this scenario, you rest the top lip on the upper rim of the m.p. and just let the lower lip do the flapping. Some people call these "false" pedal tones, but who cares when something actually works? Otherwise, it's difficult to just spread your apperture (sp?) wide enough for that range, regardless of how wide the m.p. may be. If you're talking about low F down to the pedal Bb, that may be a different issue altogether. Schilke 67 might do the trick.

I only mention this because I've always been good at this ubsurdly low range. It's my high range that needs work.
