Re: the bells-I had a 1930s Conn Sousaphone with a 36 inch bell. It was a monster. It was one of 10 made with the 4th valve in E natural rather than F. It weighed 55 lbs. It usually took 4 people to move it in it's wooden case.
For the rain catchers you might want to contact Sam Gnagey. He has one. He can give you the info on the bell size of his horn.
