William Robinson, long the horn professor at Baylor University, was my first high school band director and introduced me to brass playing in the best possible way, with a great understanding of the importance of fundementals.

Don Baird, former Euphonium soloist in the D.C. Army band, was my university applied teacher, and was a complete inspiration to me. He taught me work ethic, musicianship, and the importance of the "complete package" as a player - sound, technique, and musicianship working together for the music. He passed on, much too early, in the mid seventies. He was in his forties, and to this day I miss him very much.
