Its not just the school, or the teacher. My list of top ten has changed radically as I have grown up. In my individual dealings with these top teachers, its clear that they all have something to offer, but is it what I want or need. There is a list of outstanding orchestral schools, another for military band careers, another for a chance at it all. I heard someone play and decided I wanted to hear more. I had a lesson, and moved to study with him. It was the BEST time of my life. I then decided that I needed college teaching experience, orchestral experience and a bigger school for the connections when I audition for that college job. Its all relative. Sam's great, good luck getting in. IU is a hotbed for tuba players, good luck surviving. Take lessons with these amazing teachers, and make up your own mind.
