For band music. Come Sweet Death by J.S. Bach. I played this in 8th grade and the meaning behind the piece coupled with playing the rich harmony choked me up so much I could hardly keep playing. Also, Bach's Shephards Awake! is another one.

For orchestral and every other catagory:

Death and Transfiguration - R. Strauss
Pavane For A Dead Princess - Ravel
Danny Boy - Sung or played by any great soloist.
Cat's in the Cradle - Harry Chapin
O Come All Ye Faithful - Orchestral arrangement.
O Holy Night - Performed by Empire Brass - Joy to the World album. Scott Hartman, solo trombone, Marty Hackleman, horn counter melody. - Orig. Music, Adolphe Adam

Since no body has mentioned any emotional soundtrack music, perhaps everyone can contribute their favorite soundtrack and if possible connect it to the corresponding scene to the movie/show. A few of mine are:

Saving Private Ryan - Hymn To The Fallen - J. Williams
The Patriot - Scene where he (Mel Gibson) hears is daughters first words begging him not to leave. - J. Williams
Jaws (the original) End Title. - J. Williams
"When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2. - Randy Newman
Star Wars - Leia's Theme - J. Williams
Star Trek First Contact - Main Title (horn soli) John Thatcher performing? - J. Goldsmith

I'm sure I have more, but can't think of them now.
