Check the prices of good violins or 'cellos. If you really want sticker shock, check out the Monette website. $20.000 for a Raja!
When I worked at the Shires Trombone factory, a loaded big bell bass was close to $4,000. In my opinion, pound for pound, tubas are a bargain.
