I play valve trombone or my double bell euphonium with a small Klezmer style group and it's a lot of fun. For that type of group, an Eb horn would work, especially with 4 valves, and especially if you are on a budget.
What I would like to know is where you have found so many helicons? They are relatively scarce these days.
