I have to say that I've already been tempted. The play quality of the Buescher-belled creation of Matt's had me considering the otherwise-worn-out Buescher he also had. That bell would have nestled onto the YM quite happily, I suspect, and I'd bet would have given that instrument some of the qualities present in Matt's horn.

Pure fear kept me from it, and also the cost which would not have been convenient at the time.

For those of you who buy and sell horns lots in search of perfection, my apprehension may seem unwarranted. But I can only say that a horn such as the York Master, in the condition it's in and with the provenance that it has, is far beyond the just deserts of one such as me. I'll think long before doing any major surgery.
