I've met many D.C. band musicians and one of my very closest friends (high schoolmate) is a former "Ceremonial Band" tubaist. I never heard the band referred to by any of these musicians whom I've known nor met in any other way other than "boneyard" (unless asked to clarify), and I've never heard an ounce of contempt nor disrespect in any of their inflections whenever uttered.
