A great thing for young students to get involved with are tuba/euph ensembles. It's the perfect solution to the stereotypical "bored tuba player" in his/her high school band. There are PLENTY of tuba/euph quartet arrangements out there which work great for the high school age player. Double, triple, even quadruple the parts if you are lucky enough to have that many players. The fact is, the melody has to be played somewhere... and most good arrangements pass it among all four voices. I have had ensembles like these in the past and have seen them in different parts of the country. The students LOVE it!!! All we need are some motivated teachers willing to put in the extra hours to make it happen. Any takers?
