This is an instrument given to the instrumentalist, who can not play an instrument, and the singer, who can not sing. Called "en rumsterstang" (a stick to stirr up things) in my country. One of our most famous vaudeville songs from 50 years ago has this instrument recorded. It was played by a great actor who was non-singing the text. Sadly I can find no documentation on the net.

Still the rumsterstang-player has to justify himself. It takes some personal precense-projection-radiation to enter a stage to such non-instrument.

If a tuba-rumsterstang duet should catch any interest, then maybe if the tubist played in 4/4 and the rumsterstangionist played in 11/8. With the same length (timewise) of the bar.
