Nick, I don't want you to get the wrong about marching bands from all of this fighting. I'm in my fourth year of marching at my High School and I've had some of the best times while marching in the band. Sure there is a LOT of hard work involved but just think about what you will accomplish throughout the year. Trust me, if you work hard you'll have a great time but if you slack off, you might not(and also piss your director off). Marching band isn't for everyone. My opinion on the matter is just give it one year and see if you like it.
My advice for surviving band camp is to just listen to what is written in the posts(most of them). Drink plenty of water, wear a hat, and by all means DON'T LOOK YOUR LEGS! Just listen to your director and have a good time.
