GHSA?

It'll be Mid-October before the high temps in the southern plains are under 83 degrees. Heat isn't that bad when you're used to it and smart about it. Ever heard of siesta? It's a method of dealing with the heat; from about 2 pm to 5 pm, don't work. In marching band terms, that means using the afternoon hours for sectionals and indoor music rehearsals. Do the outdoor stuff in the morning and evening. If your band director insists on being outdoors during the heat of the afternoon, I would suggest that some parents need to be aware of that fact. I think that 83 degrees is a little overprotective (I find that I am quite comfortable at that temperature), but anything over 95 and you shouldn't be doing much out in it.

I did a lot of construction work during summers in college. We would often work a good 5 hours in the early morning, then break until late afternoon and work three more.
