What you are looking at are excerpt books. The Torchinsky series has the complete parts exactly as they would appear should you play in an orchestra. Mr. Torchinsky also provides wonderful commentary on how to approach each peice, pointing out any errors in the part. This can be very helpfull should you be required to play from an original part at an audition. Just because a lick doesn't appear in an excerpt book doesn't mean it isn't important. Learning the whole piece rather than just the licks can have a profound impact on your interpretation.
