The bag is not at all like an Altieri. The only thing in common is that that they are both top loaders. The Altieri's are very thin and sit way too high on the back in my opinion. I hit doorways with them. The Dolly looks very similiar to a Reunion Blues, but the bell end unzips around the bell to allow a flap to fold back and the horn to be loaded from the top. Altieri bags are made of some kind of nylon type material, while this bag is cordura.
The plastic sheets are not very thick at all. They are thinner than a CD and fairly flexible. The bag is heavier than any other I have seen, but not by much.
