Hey Joe, et al:
Music therapy sort of got started informally in the 40's as physical
therapists and others tried to get polio victims to move and do it
rhythmically or at least on impulse. They began trying rhythm band
instruments, sticks, clapping, anything. Slowly the methods have been
formalized and expanded to head trauma, epilepsy, retardation and a host
of other situations where brain/limb disfunction has occured.

It also strongly uses Kodaly, Orff, Dalcrose and other pitch and movement
techniques from Europe. And yes, the results are sometimes amazing.

Sorry for the short course.
George
