Rotary Valve Leak

I have noticed a leak in my first valve when I play. It seems to get better as I play. The horn is a miraphone 186. How does one go about locating a leak in a rotary valve? I have tryed spraying with soapy water to watch for bubbles. That didn't work. Then I tried immersing in a bathtub of water. No bubbles. After filling the first valve slide with water I did not detect any leaks where it was coming out, but the water was getting out somehow. My suspicion is that the valve is worn enough that water is seeping around the rotor. If so, what kinds of repairs are available? Any estimate of cost? I have zero dollars right now and I really need to use my horn. Any suggestions how to get by for now? Would heavier oil help? Any specific brands?

Thanks for the help
