People have a dominant eye in the same same way they have a dominant hand. My weak eye is my left, but not because of tuba playing. It was weak before the tuba, and is weak still.
But I cannot read the music unless I can see it with both eyes. Yes, there is only one place for the stand on a crowded stage, but I can turn myself as necessary to see what I need to see.
