I always have students rinse their mouthpieces in HOT water after playing and I always rinse mine, everyday, after playing. Dishwashers, one each week, are also a good idea.
I never have a cold, anymore and I have no mouth or gum diseases, either. You don't
have to be this fanatic about clean but not cleaning your mouthpiceis not healthy.
