My low range is not the strongest either. I really have to warm up my low register every day, and really work at getting those notes to speak. It is slowly improving.
I made up a little exercise I use starting on F just below the staff:
F-E-Eb-D-Db-C-B-C-C#-D-D#-E-F played in slow slurred triplets. then the same thing a half step lower starting on E to Bb and up to E again. Then another half step lower from Eb down to A and back up to Eb. Continue going down by half steps until you are down to starting on Bb to low E and back up to Bb. Again start slowly and slur. Then once you learn this try a little louder and then add tongue and even accents later. Not only does this help loosen up to the low register it also makes you learn your chromatic fingering patterns!
Hope it helps,
ken k
