Pat Landolfi studied with William Bell in the late 50's. Later on, after he had been playing professionally for some time, he began taking lessons from Arnold Jacobs, and travelled to Chicago regularly to do so.

Don Butterfield was a major Bell exponent, whose enthusiasm and loyalty is rivalled by few if any others of the Bell cadre. And Don was a major major figure in the New York free-lance scene for years.

Bob Tucci started out with Harold McDonald, principal tubist in Tucci's home town of Pittsburgh. It was only natural that Mac would send Bob to Chicago to study with his own mentor, Arnold Jacobs.

Herb Wekselblatt was a pupil of Fred Geib. He must have been DAMN good as young player, because he was not a Bell student, and lacked the advantages that the Bell cadre enjoyed, and still managed to land great gigs, even before he got the Met.

Hope these capsule histories help you.
