Of course! Not only is it possible, but I would venture that the vast majority of horns that are purchased remain stock. In my case, after an extensive search for a horn, I purchased a Besson 981 EEb. I've played this horn professionally in brass quintet, symphony, opera orchestra and various other pickup gigs - dixieland, German polka band, etc. Not only have I made NO modifications to the horn, but I play on the "Besson 24" mouthpiece that came with the instrument. Take your time and find the horn that really suits your needs, physical playing style, and sound concept and you will likely not need to make any modifications.
