A theme a variations is really fun to play. Work out the melody (first Variation) so you can paly it in your sleep. Then with each variation let the melody have it's way. I believe the Variations get more difficult as the piece unfolds. Work them one at a time for clarity. I remember playing the Variations for Tuba and piano about 20-25 years ago. It was fun and the audience loved it!! Have fun.
