Im a college student goin into my second year at a university in Washington state and will be buying a horn at the end of the summer. My dad is helping me get a loan and I will hopefully have about $8000 to spend on a horna and at least a gig bag. Any recomendations on horns? I play in the university wind ensemble with 2 other tubas, the orchestra alone, a brass quintet, and hopefully the orchestra of a nearby city of about 80,000 people. I would rater have a bit larger horn to satisfy my large groups, but one that will fit in the quintet til I can track down an F. I played last year on a Yamaha YBB621, even in the quintet believe it or not. I have been reccomended Hirsbrunners, Willson, Rudy Meinl, Kalison, etc. My instructor bought Sam Pilafians old Hirsbrunner and it plays liek a dream, I thinks its a HB22. So Im jsut would like to get some thoughts, or if anybody is selling a horn they think I might be interested in, just leave a followup! Thanks a lot!!!!!
