Good points, Dale. And since you mentioned it I will confess...It was I who bought Chester's Yorkbrunner so I would have a backup. We do a lot of touring here and in most cases we trunk our instruments 2 or more days before we actually leave St. Louis for our first tour concert. We take the big pieces (Mahler, Bruckner Symphonies, etc.) on the road after we do them here. I feel very strongly about having a similar instrument to practice on at home during these periods. And we do have the occaisional outdoor concert or pit service where I would just as soon not use my #1 tuba. Lucky for me the SLSO has a very good instrument loan fund.
