I have the same problem with my York. Usually I rent a hotel room once a year that has an oversize whirlpool bath tub. Then, completley polish the horn with mild silver polish. Next completely dismantle the horn, go over the slides with Brasso and the valves with Pepsodent (toothpaste). Put a small amount of dawn dishwashing detergent in the tub, fill with warm water and put the horn in it. Turn on the whirlpool and let it run about 15 minutes and then snake out everything you can reach. Soak the valves and slides separately in Dawn also.

Now - reassemble the horn, oiling and greasing everything as you go (adjust the valves while you're at it). Should last you about a year before you need to do it again, and it does make a big difference in how the horn plays.

Good luck.
Roger
